BCIT GATEWAY BUILDING

NEW HEALTHCARE & ADMINISTRATION BUILDING

A Gateway Facility Building

BCIT, the client, asked for a design of a new gateway (administration & healthcare) building that represented their image as a school that attracted international students. The client gave reference of international architectural projects in the Middle East & Europe. The program requirements were fixed; flexibility was given in the facade design where my roll came in. Two main references were given by the client to inform the design; healthcare & aboriginal culture. My first exploration is means of veins on architectural language. The second one was creating spaces that reflected aboriginal gathering areas & original architectural language. Other typical facade treatments were explored to account for budget.
